An unusual place in Spain Spain: the wonderful country that has a little bit to offer to any tourist who visits it. The atmosphere is so lively, so full of energy that someone who comes from outside immediately feels the difference between the temperament of those who live in the southern part of the continent and those who come from cold places. It seems like Spaniards have the tendency to take life not as seriously as others do, so this is why the atmosphere is so relaxed. Sightseeing in the Gran Canarias The icon of the archipelago is the old Gothic Cathedral. The Cathedral is also a wonderful example of Neoclassical architecture and considering the fact that the construction of the monument began right after America was discovered, think about the fact that when you see it, you will have in front of your eyes one of the oldest monuments in the region. An interesting place in the town is the old quarter; this quarter represents the part of the Gran Canarias which displays the Latin American influenced manorial houses. Those who are interested in the history of the town, “Columbus’ House” is the perfect place for them; now turned into a museum, the building celebrates the life of the great Christopher Columbus, the historical figure of great importance not only for the Americans, but also for humanity. If you want to see the typical architecture of the island, the part that has no influences from other cultures, visit the Pueblo Canario, a complex of gardens created by the famous Nestor de la Torre. The sightseeing list should continue with the Arts Museum and the Perez Galdos Museum which is housed in the building where the popular writer lived.
