One thing you need to have while out on the slopes is patience, mostly with yourself. There are a lot of people that begin to do worse and worse because they keep getting more and more frustrated and angry with themselves, and their skill level. Skiing is a great way to get all of your body a good workout in the winter. Especially after you wear out the treadmill. When you are actually out and skiing, you will feel all of your body getting a workout, and you will certainly be able to feel it the day after. Before you go up the mountain it is important to know that your muscles will be working super hard, and they need the proper time to stretch. Another plus to stretching before and after the slopes is it will prevent the extreme soreness the nest day. When you get ready to go up the mountain you need to know you will fall a lot throughout the day. It is pretty much a guarantee that there will be a lot of falling in the first day, so you want to be prepared mentally for that. There is no shame in falling, but it is also rough to keep getting up over and over again. Getting comfortable for how the skis feel, and how to move your legs to help you get back up more easy is important. It is not a short process, it is one that probably wont all be figured out on the first day. Another difficult task while learning skis is finding the perfect speed for the level you are comfortable at. A lot of people have a hard time finding the right speed and also find themselves going to fast then to slow. It is understandable to be a little scared while you are on the mountain. Even if you are scared, that is an emotion you will have to get over. The slopes are a great place to conquer some fears, and prove to yourself you can do anything you put your mind towards. One of the more important parts of gear you will need are boots. It is important to have quality boots because you will standing on them all day. You want your boots to fit properly, you do not want your feet to get numb or cold because they are the wrong size. If you have to use rental gear, it is really important to call ahead and be sure the rental shop has all you need in the correct size. It is worth spending some extra time to know where you are going to rent your gear,and to make sire they have it. At times you might have to look around town and ask friends to borrow what you need. If there is a large groups of your friends or family going, check to see if someone is sitting out and if their equipment would work for you. When you go to ski you will realize it is a good challenge for your body and your mind. If you work hard, keep getting up and get the hang of skiing and do it on a consistent basis you will feel your muscles changing. You will notice they will strengthen over time, and stronger muscles make skiing become a lot easier.
