Unlike any other month February holds an important place in hearts of thousands of love bird in world. Saint Valentine's Day commonly known as Valentine's Day is an annual celebration held on February 14 celebrating a feeling of love and affection between companions. The day is named after one or more early Christian martyrs named Valentine and was established by Pope Gelasius I in 500 AD. It was removed from the Roman calendar of saints in 1969 by Pope Paul VI, but today it is widely celebrated all over the world religiously and in every possible way. It is traditionally a day on which lovers express their love for each other by gifting flowers, offering sweets(mostly chocolates), and sending wishes (known as "valentines"). The day first became associated with romantic love in the circle of Geoffrey Chaucer in the High Middle Ages, when the tradition of courtly love flourished. By the middle of the 18th century, Valentine's Day become popular amongst the masses and it became a common tradition for all social classes to secretly exchange small tokens of lover or handwritten love notes called Valentine In modern times Valentine's Day Festival celebrations are huge in most countries across the globe. The festival has grown as a popular dating and gift-giving festival and so it has a major social and economic significance. It may be a notable miracle that Valentine's Day started as a romantic festival but today the festival has increased in scope. Presently, Valentine's Day is vitally regarded as festival that celebrates love between individuals and not just lovers. People therefore wish ‘Happy Valentine's Day' to parents, teachers, siblings, friends or any other person special to them. There are a lot of various traditional customs associated with this lovable festival, the most popular way of celebrating Valentines Day is by expressing love to sweethearts and dear ones with an exchange of gifts, which represent feelings of affection. Some of the most traditional Valentine's Day gifts exchanged between lovers are fresh flowers (preferably blood red roses), chocolates (heart shaped) and cards. Jewelry is also fast emerging as the most desired Valentine's Day gift for women. As world as emerged in today’s modern technologically advanced age, exchange of text messages between friends and loved ones has become a most valued cultural norm in many countries. Going out on dates with ones loved one is a very common gesture associated to Valentines Day festive. Restaurants are a busy sight as people celebrate the day of romance with a candle light dinner. On contrast some people also hold Valentine's Day dance parties and balls organized by various clubs and hotels. Private parties are also organized in homes and farmhouses where young and the old have a blast, representing Valentines Day celebrations a family moment to be enjoyed by all irrespective of age.
