Cleaning is usually done by a dental hygienist and is especially helpful in getting rid of plaque and getting the gums in good shape. 6) Don’t procrastinate: If problems are occurring inside your mouth, don’t delay. Get to the dentist in order to take care of the problem. Decay and disease won’t go away on their own - instead they just continue to get worse. A simple cavity can turn into a root canal or lost tooth. 7) Keep your teeth throughout life: Did you know that many people have lost all or most of their teeth before they start collecting social security? It’s wise to have this started as early as age 7 in order to have a more effective and shorter course of treatment. 10) No bedtime bottles for those babies: Putting babies to bed with a bottle of juice can cause a terrible condition called “bottle mouth.” Just say “no” to bedtime bottles.
