Plastic surgery can work wonders in many situations. It can be the answer to many troubling physical attributes. Sometimes there are alternatives that could work just as well or even better. When making the decision about going under the scalpel for elective operations, being informed by weighing both sides is a wise move. Here are some things to think about: - Overweight: If a person is overweight and flabby, he or she may want to go to the doc for liposuction. This may seem like the answer to the problem. Unfortunately, it may not be the fix-all being sought. Liposuction works wonders on those stubborn fatty deposits that haven’t responded to diet or exercise. An obese individual would be better off losing weight and signing up at the local gym for exercise classes. Liposuction does not suction away large amounts of poundage. It is not a weight loss tool. Excessive flabbiness should be shaped up by exercise, too. But if the patient still has stubborn adipose bulges after reaching a healthy weight and firming up a bit, then it’s appropriate to go to the doctor for lipo treatment. - Excess belly flab: A woman may have a droopy pooch on her belly after having a couple of children. She may be fairly slender and even go to the gym on a regular basis. This stretched out abdominal region may definitely need a nip and a tuck. The question she needs to ask herself is this: “Am I finished having babies?” If she still might want a couple of kids down the road, it would be best to hold off on the abdominoplasty or tummy tuck. Having a tummy tuck will create a taut belly region. The redundant tissue will be tightened into a snug container. Unfortunately, another pregnancy will put her right back in the same position. Better to wait until all childbearing is completed before going through the surgical process and recovery. An alternative would be to continue to exercise and adhere to a nutritous diet. Wearing clothing to accentuate her positives and hide the bulges will do for a while. Even a sculpting undergarment such as a girdle will do until she’s ready for the abdominoplasty. - Flat breasts: If a woman has flat breasts, an augmentation can give her a completely new and curvy appearance. Full and ample bosoms can be created with implants filled with either saline or silicone. This is a very popular operation and one that can be completed with relative ease. If a woman plans to have children and nurse them with breast milk, she may want to hold off on her boob job until she’s weaned all infants. Sometimes a mother can still lactate successfully, but other times she cannot. If breastfeeding is an important issue, waiting a few years to have augmentation performed is a wise alternative. Plastic surgery can make wonderful changes in a person’s physique and quality-of-life if it’s done at the right time. Alternatives are available in the meantime. Considering a cosmetic improvement?
