Thanks to the recession and economic downturn, more and more people have been deciding to spend nights in their homes rather than out in the clubs and pubs. As a result, more people are inviting their friends over for an evening of indoor entertainment. This may not be to everybody’s tastes but one can’t deny that in today’s world, sometimes the living room is the ultimate playpen. Some of the key ingredients to a great night in are obviously good company, good food/drink and good music. While indoors, you’re in charge of the company you keep so you decide who can come. The food and drinks can be bought in so again, you have total control over what you want you want to eat and drink and aren’t restricted to a set menu. If you have a computer or a laptop, the internet can be used to provide the music. A simple visit to a music streaming website or service and you can play all your favourite songs. Alternatively, you can create a playlist from the music you already have on your computer or stick a compilation CD on. Almost every household will own an Xbox 360, Playstation 3, Wii or some sort of console. Technology has advanced tremendously in the last 5 years and most of these machines will have access to the internet for movies, music and other downloadable content including more games. Games such as Wii Sports, Just Dance and Guitar Hero have dominated parties for the last few years. They’re popular because they’re fun, they’re great party games to play and watch and more than two people can get involved. Whilst planning a good night in, it’s important that the activity you choose is one that everyone can enjoy either watching or playing along. Either way, everyone is participating. The Xbox and Playstation 3 have recently released a way of playing similar to the Wii where conventional controllers are no longer necessary to play. This opens up the options of things to do with your friends on a night in. More interactive games are likely to be available to you now and you’ll be able to enjoy them with your friends. Playstation have named their new toy Playstation Move.
