A friend of mine recently moved apartments, and I told him that we were planning to move as well. We found some place bigger and were excited to be moving, but were dreading the packing, lifting, hauling, relifting, and unpacking that almost certainly awaited us. He suggested that we just do what he did and call a professional moving service. Rather than deal with all of that trouble himself, he had them some in, pack his stuff, move it, and unload it for him. He did unpack it all himself, but he had the movers move everything into the rooms where they belonged, saving him all of the trouble with sorting and unsorting. Pricewise, it was not that expensive, and while they were doing all of the hard work, he was hanging out at a bookstore cafe, playing on his laptop. I thought about it for a while, and instead of the horror of moving, I saw myself and my family playing in a park, watching movies, and holding hands, spinning around in a big circle while the sun shined and a warm breeze blew through our hair. For some reason, I also imagined us all wearing white, and as odd as that was, it was a lot better than the thought of hauling heavy boxed of clothes, books, and toys from one place to the next, and definitely better than the thought of moving furniture. I got the number of the moving company from him, and have scheduled a day and time for the move. Now, as long as it does not rain, the rest of my dream might come true as well.
