Although Japanese animation, or simply known as anime, is very diverse, there are still some elements of each movie or series that are shared with other animated films of its kind. The way anime is divided greatly depends on how characters are depicted. There are differences between every show, but some of their components have similarities, which essentially characterize the shows under one genre. Daiju, for instance, is a genre of anime that specifically focuses on a character that hunts down entities such as ghosts, monsters, and aliens. Although each daiju anime has a unique twist and plot, they all follow the concept of going after evil creatures. Most shows under this genre feature an organization or group of characters sworn to eliminate malevolent beings. Some daiju series have male or female demon slayers as main characters. These characters use different powers and weapons throughout the series. Typical daiju characters include boys or girls who are masters of a variety of long-range and short-range weapons, such as swords, crossbows, guns, and lances. These characters can also be mages, priests, swordsmen, archers, and ninjas. Some daiju shows, on the other hand, feature a group of characters having individual supernatural capabilities or powers such as telekinesis, the ability to control natural elements such as fire, water, and thunder, enhanced strength, agility, and speed. Western cartoons also have this kind of storylines, although anime videos offer a different kind of twist in every show. Another genre of anime known as sentai can be considered a sub-category of daiju, wherein a team of heroes is composed of characters with individual traits, and are usually dressed in uniforms or costumes in distinct colors. Sentai, however, can also refer to shows or films that are portrayed by real people. Sentai anime videos are aired on TV and on the Web, although these shows enjoyed more prominence in the past. Watching daiju anime videos is good way of becoming familiar with Japanese animation. Though these animated films are known to be created in Japan, anyone can appreciate their creatively-drawn characters and interesting storylines. Watching daiju anime brings not only fun and enjoyment, but also acceptance and understanding of Japanese culture.
