Organic stains have a well deserved reputation. If we have to compare them to other types of stains, they would be ‘The untouchables’ with rating 9.8 on the scale of stubbornness. The best defence is a good offence, so roll up your sleeves. No doubt, the best way to get rid of an organic stain is to use an enzymatic cleaner which can be find in stores. The enzymes break down and digest any kind of organic material. Of course, there are other techniques you can try before running to the grocery store. Here are some tips on how to remove some of the worst organic stains. 1. Berry Stain Nobody can tell which is the worst berry stain there is – raspberry, blackberry, thimbleberry, blueberry, huckleberry, cranberry or strawberry. But let's trust cleaning company professionals when they say that, all of them leave stains behind. Boil some water and pour it on the stain. You can also soak the fabric into it after making sure that the hot water will not damage it. After rinsing the bulk of the juice apply some vinegar on the damaged area. Apple cider vinegar is the best for the job but if the stain is on white fabric, don’t use is as it may leave a yellowish stain behind. If you are trying to remove a stain from a white fabric, use white vinegar. Leave it for about an hour and then remove it by dampening the stain with water and blotting. If there are still slight traces of the stain remaining, you can apply a small dab of whitening toothpaste. Rub gently and then remove the toothpaste. 2. Coffee & Tea ‘Coffee might not be a cure-all, but it is close.’ – L.K.Hamilton More than 400 billions cups of coffee are consumed annually. We drink coffee on the way to work, school, in the lunch break, after work, on weekends…The cup of coffee is probably your best friend, especially early in the morning when nobody else would understand what you are trying to say. Coffee stains are inevitable. First of all, never let a coffee stain set because it will be twice as hard to remove it afterwards. Blot it so it doesn’t spread or try wash it away with lukewarm water. There are several ways to remove a coffee stain. The most common one is sponging the stain with a mixture of one quart of cold water and a tablespoon of vinegar. Wait for 5-10 minutes and then wipe the spot clean. You can remove a coffee stain with an egg yolk solution. Mix few drops of alcohol and the yolk of an egg with warm water and apply it on the stain. Rub gently with a sponge and then wash the area. To remove coffee and tea stains you can also use baking soda. Blot as much of the excess moisture as possible and then apply baking soda on the stain. Leave it for some time and then was it away. Sometimes we need more than egg yolk and vinegar to remove an organic stain. Unfortunately, some of the enzyme cleaners are not as effective either. If you have a serious ‘stain problem’ and you have tried everything to remove it from your carpet, it is better to ask for professional help.
