Tennis camps are a little different than other tennis clinics or tennis instructions. A main goal of the camp counselors is to use fun tennis drills that are exciting. Tennis pros want to make sure that young kids get a good experience during tennis camps. Tennis pros at times find it difficult finding fresh thrilling and fun tennis drills. Listed below are some examples of good tennis drills that can be interesting and entertaining. The first exercise is known as “Around the World”. Players divide into two even teams to side A and B. Every team forms a single line behind their baseline. The instructor hits the ball in to the first player in line on side B, who returns the ball then runs around the court to the back of the queue on side A. The first participant in each line hits 1 ball only and goes around the exact same way. Once a player hits a fault, he is out of the game (they can collect balls). The very last participant surviving will be the champion. This is usually a excellent tennis drill for intermediate children. The following fun tennis drill is known as “Fill the Court”. Competitors split once more into 2 even groups to side A and B. Each one group forms a single line behind their baseline. The trainer hits the ball in from the net post, and the first competitors in every line play out rally with each other on the singles side. The losing person goes out and to the back of the line. The successful player stays and brings in the next player in line to assist him succeed the following rally. If they win again, they can pull in a 3rd participant and so on. The team that is able to bring all its participants into play wins the exercise. At any time a team loses a rally, they go back to one competitor. This can be a great drill when one court consists of a lot of competitors. The last drill is named “Jabba the Hut”. Exactly 6 competitors are recommended to do this exercise with 3 player teams on each side. One single player in every team kneels down at the T on their side. The rest of the players are at the baseline. The trainer feeds the ball from the net post to one of the baseline players. Each of those teams play out the point against each other for 1 point each. If within the rally one of the two kneeling players hit the ball over and in, their team automatically gains three points no matter if they lose the point later on. The very first team to 21 points is the winner. This is also a very popular tennis exercise. Tennis trainers have to make sure they always keep their camps up to date with new fun tennis drills. When the students are having a great time, they will be back again for the future camps. The author is a tennis professional with over 20 years of teaching experience.
