The best places to dive on the island are in the Southern part of the island. Curacao is especially interesting as the sea floor drops off steeply within a few hundred feet of the shore so there is no need for a boat, just a nice leisurely swim out to the dive spots is needed. There are lots of Bays and inlets on the island which are good for mooring, so if you do have a boat then there will be no problem finding somewhere to leave it. Curacao's climate is semi-arid which may be a surprise, it is similar to the Southwestern US with lots of Cactus, evergreen and warm weather native plants. The island can be likened to Hawaii so if you have ever visited there then you will know roughly what to expect from Curacao. The Hurricane season generally misses Curacao most of the time as it is in a position which is slightly away from the hurricane belt. The islands highest point is Christoffel berg which is 1,230 feet high in the northwestern part of the island. There are lots of different foods to try out on the island and one of the native foods is called Stoba, it is a stew made from lots of different ingredients, like papaya and goat or beef. Stoba is a major dish of Curacao and part of the traditional food known as Krioyo.
