For many years, I have been thinking of insulating my home. My old insulation is in bad condition and I have been trying to save in order to renew it all. Now I have the funds and I think it is high time to do something in order to get a nice and warm home. I decided to do a little research first. I was going to do a complete insulation of my home starting with the loft. There are many companies that seem to offer what I need. However, one caught my eye. The features of their insulation were numerous and they offer quality certification. They guarantee fire resistance, water and moisture repellent, soundproofing and heat retaining. I didn’t think much and contacted the local branch. The staff was very helpful and the next day I had a representative in my house to do the needed measurements. It took the two guys three hours to have a look at the house and point out where the problems were. The quote was going to be with me in a couple of days. What they told me was that with insulating my whole house (interesting to know is that the Danish term is Isolering af loft til dit hjem) I would reduce my fuel bills with at least 20 percent. That sounded very good to me and I was sure that I would proceed. Two days later as promised I had the quote in my hands. I must say it was very tempting however, I didn’t have the needed amount. I decided to go and get a loan, as the insulation project will pay for itself in the future. To my biggest surprise, the municipal was offering some grants at that time. That I was told in the bank, so I decided to apply and within 2 weeks, I was approved. Happy days. I didn’t waste any time and rang up to order the insulation materials. I was going to do my ceiling insulation, my floor insulation and of course the walls. I hired professional help because if not placed properly the insulation may lose its qualities and I didn’t want to risk anything. A week later, the project was finished and I was enjoying a warmer house already. I wanted to see after a month what the effect was on my fuel bill. However, whatever it was, I was more than happy that I could at last get warm. A month later, I decided to go and see what I need to pay for heating. My surprise was huge as the bill was reduced with 19 percent. Well, that is amazing according to me. I am very happy that I decided to do this insulation project and I am confident now that it will pay for itself in a couple of years.
