The area’s electricity network operator has kicked off a number of local funding initiatives to support community projects in the region, and Sale Cricket Club is the latest to benefit. Matthew Savka is the chairman of the cricket club, and also works as a design engineer for Electricity North West. He said: "The grant will help Sale to continue delivering coaching to local kids. The money is earmarked for coaching equipment that will provide the opportunity for kids to develop through cricket. "Over the past couple of years it has been very difficult to secure funding from local businesses so it is great to find a regional business supporting great community causes like this." Electricity North West’s customer strategy director, Paul Bircham, said: "We operate the electricity network across the whole of the North West, taking power to millions of customers, but we also want to be involved in, and help, the communities that we serve. "Sale Cricket Club does some great work with young people in the local area, visiting schools and putting on sports sessions. We’re delighted that they will be able to continue this work with our financial support." Sale Cricket Club was established in 1854 and has a long and successful history.
