For years, high heels have dominated the stiletto end of shoe fashion. Finally, kitten heels – pumps with heels shorter than four inches – have returned to runways and shoe stores around the world. Thanks in part to Michelle Obama's endorsement, tired sore feet can take a break and still look stunning. These shoes are far more stylish than flat bottomed shoes but infinitely more comfortable than their higher-heeled cousins. And now that they're coming back into style, there are more choices than ever on the market. If you're shopping for a new pair of heeled shoes, here are some helpful hints to keep in mind. Shoes come in countless styles, made from a multitude of materials, and kitten heels are no exception. From basic, solid coloured heels to exotic looking materials with multiple sexy straps, the selection runs the full spectrum. Take a moment to do a small amount of research, either online or by asking a store clerk, and find out what styles are expected to be hot this year. And don't forget to keep in mind what you'll be using them for, too. Certain styles work better to wear to work, for example, while others are better suited for a night out on the town. Style is usually first in most women's mind when buying shoes, but comfort can certainly not be overlooked. A few hours in a pair of shoes shouldn't make you feel like you've been walking across broken glass. Try on the pair of kitten heels you're thinking of buying before you purchase them. Simply sliding them on your feet isn't enough, however. Walk around the store in them for a moment, too. If they feel too tight or if certain parts seem to chaff your feet, you might want to try another size or even another shoe. The days of skyscraper stilettos have faded, at least for the moment.
