The Great Barrier Reef It is one of the world’s seven natural landscapes and Cairns is the gateway to the Great Barrier Reef. Total length of Great Barrier Reef is 2,000 kilometers, with a total area of 80,000 square kilometers. There are numerous coral islands and islets formed by deposition of the mainland mountains islands, which is also the habitat of more than 400 kinds of marine molluscs and 1,500 species of fish, many of which are the world’s endangered species. Mission Beach It is a 14 km long beach, but there are two world natural heritages: the Great Barrier Reef and tropical rainforests.
