Later on, his family shifted to Brisbane where he spent most of his youth and attended St. Joseph's College, Gregory Terrace. Günsberg developed an ardent passion for music from a young age. He would play in school orchestras, and perform in barbershop quartets and school musicals. Andrew began to perform as a roadie after leaving school. In 1994, he joined a band called “Feeble’s Junky” and began to perform across the Brisbane. He also played double bass for “Resin Dogs”- one of the most popular bands in Australia. Günsberg began his career in radio with a Brisbane based radio station called B 105. He was only 20 then. Later he joined SAFM and it was there that he earned the nickname Andrew G. In 1999, Andrew shot a short video of his nationwide tour and sent it to channel V which earned him a job of a host in the same channel. Andrew worked with Channel V for seven years. He hosted various live shows there including ‘By Demand' which was channel’s flagship request show. He also got a chance to host an evening live variety show during the Sydney Olympics of 2000 called “Rings of Fire.” Andrew G left V In 2003 and joined Network Ten where he became co-host of Australian Idol. The role earned him nomination for the Silver Logie in 2004.
