I spent over ten years of my life training young athletes. I grew up playing soccer, basketball and football and I love sharing what I learned that my son and his friends each year. Besides the sports skills, like teaching these kids the importance of teamwork, sportsmanship and goal setting. But every season there is always a team that challenges the values ??of sportsmanship. This is the team that produces an “accidental” elbow, trampling on one foot, or skirting the rules to gain an advantage. Is justified by others how to do what it takes to win, but I see things differently. On the ground, a team is a reflection of their coach. You can see all levels of sport and see this in action. As a coach, it is our responsibility to teach these children the values ??that guide them through their career and, by extension, his personal life. When I see a team that acts in and play a little dirty, I blame the coach. The same goes for businesses. I heard a lot of small business owners complain of their employees. These business owners about how their vendors are not selling well, and how their customer service people do not care about customers. They complain that managers do not make good decisions and budgets that are out of control. The list is long and I’m sure you have a list of complaints about your own employees. The fact is that just like the basketball team is a reflection of their coach, employees are a reflection of you. A business owner I know had started to struggle with his company. Over a period of six months, he started to become very concerned about the future of his business and he gave me to help him get his team motivated. From his perspective, his staff lazy and could not be trusted. Its sales staff does not seem motivated, even when he was challenged to produce more. Morality is a historically low level, and he just fired his manager, so he can promote a second that he considers a better fit. He needed me to work with other staff to improve morale and help everyone adjust to the new director. From the perspective of employees created a hostile work environment. In the past six months, employees have lost many of the advantages they enjoyed. When sales declined, the public owner yelling at vendors and blame the failure of the company. An employee who was promoted to director had been spreading false rumors about the former director to get their fire. Many people began to think that the only way forward was to undermine others or find another job. No one has agreed with the owner of the company or business. The company was hit by two different perspectives on the same facts. This business owner was so focused on his life, he had forgotten how to motivate and encourage employees. In turn, stopped his staffs who work hard for him. Although he did not know, this employee owned company reflects its position back to him. Business owners, such as cars, set the direction of the Executive Director of the team. If your company does not perform as well as you’d like, take a look at what you did. What do you say to your employees? Are you motivating, or are you criticizing? Are you involved in your business and provide strong leadership, or you are an owner of part-timers who do not want to be involved in daily operations? The quickest way to make changes in how the business works; you can use to change your business. I know it’s a cliché, but become the change we want to see their own company. If sales are down, go out and start selling. If the customer does not exist, ignore the phone and making calls to a customer.
