And now that Uncle Mo is no mo for Derby 137, who will be the talented and I daresay lucky horse to wear the roses on Saturday? Is Stay Thirsty hungry enough to go the full 1-1/4 miles? Comma to the Top hopes to end his day with an exclamation point but is more a question mark since he may be part of a pace duel that may leave him with little left by the time they turn into the stretch. Can Santiva make a ‘Believa ‘ out of us, and will Nehro be a Derby hero or a zero? Will Pants on Fire be the Truth or just another Liar? Dialed In doesn’t have Brilliant Speed but does have Twice the Appeal as Shackleford, who he ran down in the Florida Derby last out. The only question is will he ring up a win at the wire or will he phone in his performance? Jockey Javier Castellano will have to make sure Derby Kitten pounces on his rivals at just the right time coming from far back, and not leave himself too much work to do. But if anyone can get us Twinspired, it is Mucho Macho Man, who appeared lifeless at birth and overcame incredible odds just to survive let alone make it to the starting gate at Churchill on Derby day. Master of Hounds has never raced on the natural dirt and we think he may be barking up the wrong tree here. If Alan Garcia gets his wish, then we will see his horse Soldat with a very high price at stud. If it rains and the track is sloppy, if he gets loose on the lead, we may all Watch him Go right to the wire. This contest will be no Midnight Interlude but a grueling contest run in the middle of the day. For a jockey to successfully navigate his mount through a 19-horse moving maze, the Decisive Moment may come approaching the far turn, as the closers do not want to make their move either too early or too late and the stalkers have to decide whether to make their move or hold their position just a little longer. It is anyone’s guess who will win this inscrutable Kentucky Derby, so just pick the best looking horse in the post parade and hope for the best. Good luck!
