Making the transfer to our new house was an exciting challenge. I was taking my husband and two kids across the Midwest and out to the Pacific Northwest. No matter how you look at it, this was not a modest move. I figured if I could just buy a lot of the basic necessities new once we got to our new house that I would be able to save a lot of money on moving fees. At first this seemed ridiculous but I found some Walmart coupons online and was able to save money on many of the items that I was accustomed to buying while living in our previous home. You would think that I would have known that you could find sales this way, but I had never considered it. A friend of mine had suggested it to me and I figured that it couldn't hurt. The thing about it all that really brought me peace of mind was that besides saving money I was also already familiar with all of the items. There was enough stress involved in having to relocate without having to add extra fuel in the flames. It was a good stress, but still stress all the same. Sticking with the same things that we always used would at least provide me with some sort of sense of stability among the grand disorder of our travel. My children and husband surely wouldn't mind the comfort of habit. When we made it out to our new home everything had moved along a lot more swiftly than I expected. Who would have imagined that everything could be so easy? When my mother found out we were moving she had given me a family heirloom to keep hold of. That was thing that I had a hard time putting on a truck. The way that everything was stored and organized really put calm to the storm of all my worries. Our shopping escapade to get everything stocked up managed to run effortlessly without a hitch as well. There were a lot of costs already wrapped up in this entire move. So it was reassuring to know that there was at least one place where I would be able to save. Those first few weeks could have been a lot rougher had I not practiced my skills at frugality. Now, every small thing seems to have settled peacefully into place. It's almost as if this has always been our residence. I often times think back to the old house and try to recall what life was like. Everything always appeared wonderful. If I want to stay in the present moment though, I have to keep myself focused on right now and not dream about the past. Honestly, it doesn't take much hunting to see how nice things are.
