Choosing a carpet for your space is one of the major issues that you will have to face many times in life. There are many things that you have to keep in mind while choosing the type of under footing. This means that you have a variety of material, designs, and colors to choose from. Also you must be considerate that how much foot traffic will be generated at the place because obviously you don’t want your carpets become a victim to wear and tear. As I have mentioned earlier that you should always consider the level of foot traffic that will be generated at a place where you have to place the carpet. Carpets come in three major forms in terms of piles. Loop piles are the ones in which the loops are not cut in accordance to their height and form smooth consistent textured carpets. They form a good choice in the shops and other commercial buildings. Cut piles have loops cut to their heights and thus form a dense material that is gives a warm comfortable look. However the major shortcoming of this type of carpet is that they wear away very easily in high foot traffic areas and do not form a good choice for living room. At such places cut and loop piles give good results because they are both luxurious and resistant to wear and tear. They form a good choice if you are deciding to have wall to wall carpeting at a place. The next thing that you should be very considerate is the color of the carpet you are choosing. If you have a big living space you can go for the darker shades but in the medium or small sized places you should always keep a neutral tone. This will make your room more comfortable and increase the essence of openness. Also with the neutral shades in the floor you can concentrate more on the other forms of décor and art work and place more furniture in the room with less congested look. However if you are bored of neutrality and monotonous look in your room you can choose from a wide range of colors. Royal blue and maroon give classic appearance. Bottle green color is also very appealing and gives a gorgeous look when used along with golden furniture. Also check the pattern of the carpet. A small carpet in the center of the room with a floral pattern will enhance the beauty of the place. On the other hand a simple self print would do well if it comes to wall to wall carpeting of your living room. Also the patterns of light in the room will mater when it comes to the reflection of light and its effect in the surrounding. Try to make a good deal in the carpet store. Request the sales person to allow you to take the carpet at home and try placing it with your walls and interior to find out what kind of impact it pays.
