Due to the increase in the use of informatics, nurses who have traditionally been restricted to providing care to patients, now combine that duty with data management. There are even degree programs that impart the nurses with the necessary knowledge on informatics. The people who have a high degree of organization and are technologically inclined can perform well in the field of informatics. They can then combine this with their clinical expertise and bedside care. A nurse who is also a specialist in informatics is in a better position to improve the process of health care by managing and communicating the nursing information. The combination of nursing and informatics enables the patients, doctors , nurses and the providers of health care to make informed decisions. There are various routes to follow in order to be a specialist in nurse informatics. The trainee is expected to complete at least 4 years of study. Many nurses start by getting a nursing degree then, after bring registered, they do a masters before completing ANCC certifications for nursing informatics. Those who are interested in both nursing and informatics need to be well educated in order to be competitive. Apart from nursing, it is important to train about databases and various MS programs. Training in recent times has become more interesting as the learners are more involved with the widespread use of interactive whiteboards. The trainers can now present information directly by displaying it on a screen that is placed in front of the audience. The interactive whiteboards help during the direct communication between the trainer and the trainees. The smart boards are highly interactive and they have made learning and teaching more advanced. The teachers can now annotate, draw or write on the interactive whiteboard surface. They can also navigate the computer functions more easily by using a pen or a finger. The interactive boards are making learning more interesting, as the student is made an active participant. This is achieved by the use of student response systems that are built into the interactive white boards. There are various resources that can be used to make the most of the response systems. The use of the response system has saved the students from being passive listeners most of the time. The active participation makes them more interested in the topic. When there is more engagement, the concentration of the learners is improved and thus increases the understanding in what is being taught.
