When one stops to think, the amount of photocopying and printing that is done in the average office is quite astounding. In fact, statistics in the UK have revealed that the number of pages printed in the public sector each year reaches deep into the billions of copies. This indicates not only the heavy reliance on paperwork, even in this electronic age, but hints at the sheer costs involved in running an office. There can be little wonder then that cheap ink cartridges are a growing alternative supply for the printing demands in an office. Some of the leading manufacturers of printers and printer accessories continue to charge high prices for ink cartridges. This is justified, of course, by the fact that the brand name itself adds a certain value to the products and gives the highest assurance to the buyer that the cartridge will work. The so called cheap cartridges have grown in popularity because they can capably replace the likes of dell ink cartridges in dell printers, as well as other established brand names, like hp cartridges. However, there are more ways to save on printing costs. Two of the additional methods are ink refills and remanufactured ink cartridges. Ink refills are commonly available in refill kits, which can easily be ordered from a variety of online printer supply stores. Because of the structure of an actual cartridge, for example the inkjet variety, it is not possible to simply pour ink into the old cartridge to refill it. Instead, a kit includes a specially designed syringe or drill built into a pedestal, onto which the empty cartridge sits. This device provides the means to get the ink directly into the cartridge, which can then be placed back into the printer. The reason for popularity of this option is simply that paying the cost of ink is more economical than the cost of another cartridge, and the pedestal can be used over and over again. In the long run then, it saves even more money. A third method of making savings is to use remanufactured inkjet cartridges, though this is applicable only if the workload being produced is high and involves large amounts of colour documents or pictures. This is because remanufactured cartridges go through a series of processes to be cleaned and then refilled before being sold on, which is only feasible with the more expensive cartridges. However, for anyone who does print colourful business reports or brochures, huge savings or around 70 percent can be made. There is no doubt that opting for the independently made ink cartridge can save money, with costs just a quarter of the price of a branded original cartridge. The reason for the price difference is that, in most cases, the printer company makes its money on ink cartridges, not on the printer technology itself. Think about how little the average printer is, and how quickly the high price of new models fall. Now think of the steady price of cartridges, and percentage of the printer price they actually cost. The chances are that a printer price will be repaid through cartridges in less than a year. Some printer manufacturers, such as dell for example, have maintained a strict policy in the past regarding the supply of their products, including ink cartridges. In fact, Dell is unique in that practically all of their products are available only through their own website and service hotlines. While this situation has ensured a direct relationship between Dell and its customers, it has also caused some frustration for those with printers. For example, when it comes to needing new cartridges, Dell ink cartridges can be ordered only from dell themselves, leaving little scope for deals and cost saving bargains. However, ink cartridges made by independent cartridge manufacturers have provided some relief in this regard, with customers being able to source an alternative at prices that are significantly lower than the original. While HP cartridges have been easier to source, the money saved by opting for these cheap ink cartridges cannot be ignored. But with cost efficient ink refill kits on offer and the remanufactured option also available, even more ways to make savings can be enjoyed.
