The age old concept of having a book and flipping pages is one that is a part of the entire reading experience. Readers worried about the ability to have the available books through the device, as well as being able to read without hurting their eyes. The Kindle quickly reassured readers about this by including a sense of quality that quickly moved it into a top Amazon seller. This included e-ink, which helps to settle the eyes on the e-paper, as well as the ability to download thousands of titles. There is also the Read-To feature which lets the reader take a break and have the e-book read to him. Growth of the Amazon Kindle The Kindle literally flew off the shelves, which was not really too surprizing as it it a superior product. After the introduction of the Kindle Amazon was selling an average of 1,500 to 2,500 Kindles per day. This was linked to competition among the CD Sony or Kindle Reader which were similar gadgets to buy. The Kindle stock remained steady and maintained with the brand building that Amazon initially built, specifically as a link from Amazon's large online storefront presence. The change of Amazon Kindle into a new trend within the market is one that began to build with the Oprah endorsement. In November of 2008, Oprah announced that this was the new way to read books, and this helped Amazon tremendously with the sales as she became a spokes person for the new device. With this main announcement, the Amazon Kindle sold an average of 70,000 to 100,000 devices in just eight days, leaving them back ordered by 8 -10 weeks. It is expected that, it was this initial announcement that led Kindle into the top 10 gadgets to own, and it was one of the top 100 Christmas gifts bought for the year 2008.
