The BlackBerry customers in North America now can have access to quick and easy conference calls, thanks to the new app dubbed BlackBerry Mobile Conferencing unveiled by Research In Motion (RIM) recently. This app, which can be obtained for free from BlackBerry App World allows for joining and scheduling conference calls from a BlackBerry smartphone. A single click of “Join Now” button in this app allows the users to easily access audio conferencing details and join a conference call from their BlackBerry smartphone. Furthermore, the users can also schedule conference calls from a BlackBerry smartphone by simply using BlackBerry Calendar and a user’s conference call profile, which they can easily set up in the app. This app supports most of the prominent audio conferencing systems. Tom Goguen, vice president, collaboration and social networking at Research In Motion, expressed that making conference calls had been easier, thanks to BlackBerry Mobile Conferencing app. He added, “Converting multiple steps and hard to remember codes into a simple ‘Join Now’ button is another great example of how BlackBerry smartphones enhance communications and productivity.” Following are some of the exciting features of BlackBerry Mobile Conferencing app:- Join by a simple one-click:- Whenever a user enters a conference call, this app presents him with a “Join Now” option, which dials the conference bridge and enters the required codes to connect the user to the conference, with just a single clock. A “Reconnect” button is presented to the user if the call drops off or if the user accidentally disconnects the call. This option dials the user back into the call with one click. Simple Conference Scheduling:- With an easy two-step process, a user is allowed to schedule a conference call complete with conference bridge details directly from the BlackBerry Calendar. In order to activate this function, the user is required setting his conference call profile once in the BlackBerry Mobile Conferencing app, including dial-in numbers and access codes. Following this, he just needs to add the profile as part of the calendar invitation. This app keeps the moderator code hidden from participants in the calendar invitation. Option for choosing Optimal Conference Call Number:- At times, there are multiple dial-in numbers that are provided to adjust the participants in different regions. In such a case, this app automatically chooses an optimal number to use (for calls within North America), like using the local number if the user is within the local calling area rather than a toll-free number; or a toll- free number if the dial-in number would otherwise be long distance.
