Moreover, when people study metallurgy they come to know about different metals like cobalt, stainless steel, nickel alloys, magnesium, titanium, and copper alloys etc. In this article, we will discuss about particularly about 6061-t6 aluminum and its related product aluminium rods. Aluminium rods work as the connecting rod inside the combustion engine as the main link. This four-bar linkage of any connecting rod is known to be the coupler and it plays a vital rod in the combustion engine. This kind of rod can be made from other metal like steel. This kind of rod accelerates the speed of the engine. It can accelerate as weight in the crankshaft is much reduced while it is the aluminum rod. 6061-t6 aluminum is known to be one of the most popularly available and heat treatable metals. We can see huge usage of 6061 aluminum plate in the production of heavy-duty structures. This plate is used in products like general structural and high pressure applications, tank fittings, railroad cars, truck and marine components, pipelines, and wire products. When we discuss the processing of this kind of metal then we have to consider the machinability of the metal. When you are thinking of machining this metal, then you can machine it in the annealed temper. Now when the matter of forming comes into the focus, then stamping, spinning, deep drawing, bending etc. should be considered thoroughly. Formation of this metal is done in the annealed condition. This metal can be welded with the help of normal welding machines. In that matter, Gas tungsten arc welding is being considered for thin sections and dimension has to be less than 0.032 inches. And gas metal arc welding is taken into consideration for heavier sections. While we use alloy 4043 filler wire, then it can show better result in decrease in T 6 properties. While it is the matter of heat treatment, then proper heating is done at 990 F for sufficient amount of time and it is done with the help of heat treat. And then it has to go under water quench treatment properly. Then the matter of precipitation hardening comes into the picture and it is done for at 320 F for 18 hours. Then air cooling has to be done. After this process, precipitation hardening is completed at 350 F for 8 hours and lastly air cooling is done. Then forging is done at the temperature range of 900 F to 750 F and hot working takes place from 700 F to 500 F.
