I will never forget the time I learned what being a company founder actually meant. I was a recent college graduate with a daring idea, and many reasons not to pursue it, starting with lack of capital. I talked to my father, an experienced executive, and I'll always remember the words he used. My dad spoke, "It's really rather easy. Simply do the greatest job you can. If things don't pan out the way you want them to, just try another thing." A businessperson will bravely take chances where others may not. Whatever the result, she is responsible for it, and she turns ideas into realization. She will do well or poorly depending upon her capacity to put together a group of workers, do the right thing, and show the way. She is generally an innovator, and is motivated by a dream or ambition. I have a dear friend that, in my eyes, has everything he needs to be an entrepreneur - especially incredible innovation. Unfortunately, he didn't think he had the gumption to become a businessperson, so for a long time he passed up innovative notion after innovative notion. I explained to him that there are some things that come naturally, other skills you can build - but ultimately being an entrepreneur is about action. Are you able to take your notions all the way through to fruition? While businesspeople are often outgoing, as a shy individual myself I can state that this can be improved upon. The ability to work with others can be bettered, despite how skillful you already are at it. Businesspeople are typically all about good notions. Do you know anyone who appears to come up with excellent resolutions all the time for thorny problems? Maybe it's a more efficient method of filing papers, or a concept to aid you in organizing your computer cables. Whether the issue is a big or a small one, a businessperson is always thinking, "What can I do to fix it?" Shots in the dark are simply the norm for a businessperson. A businessperson possesses a proclivity for taking a gamble. Just because an executive takes chances doesn't suggest that she is ignorant of the risks; quite the opposite, in fact.
