You may be familiar with call forwarding from your workplace, where incoming calls to an absent member of staff are diverted to someone else's phone, but the same method can apply in your personal life too. Call forwarding is now included in many phone packages, either as standard or for an additional nominal fee, and can also be used on VoIP platforms when making calls over the internet. You don't have to use call forwarding all the time, of course, as the service can easily be switched on or off by dialling the codes given to you by your provider.
There are different types of call forwarding options too, depending on the urgency of the call and your current situation. If you're expecting an important call, you can arrange for incoming calls to take precedence over calls you're currently receiving, or you can arrange for calls to be forwarded but not answered if you're currently talking to someone else.
You don't even have to use call forwarding to a phone currently in your possession, when you make use of remote call forwarding to use an external phone number. You can change this number at any time by entering a PIN code, which can be useful if you're travelling between hotels or other locations and receiving calls directly to your rooms.
