The extension tube works nicely on lenses and provides greater magnification. The longer the lens, the lesser is the amount of magnification that the extension tube can get you. There is no difference in the quality of the photograph that is taken, between a branded and a generic extension tube. But when you use a generic one, you will loose automatic focus.
