There is no doubt that a conservatory brings a luxury to any home. It is a perfect area in which to relax in the evenings or weekend afternoons, even if the weather is not so welcoming, and can provide that much needed extra space for all of the family to enjoy. However, not everyone is satisfied with common, everyday conservatories. They desire something more. When it comes to conservatory or orangery designs, there are clear advantages to opting for bespoke designs. On the most basic level, turning to experienced designers and manufacturers to plan a structure from scratch, and not simply accepting the commonly available plastic kits, means a home owner can turn their dream extension into a reality. And while it is true that with bespoke hardwood conservatories prices can be a little higher, the advantages make the extra structure well worth the investment. The advantages centre around four specific points, namely that a bespoke design allows the conservatory to fit any specific space, that the craftsmanship is of a higher grade, that one has more control over the project as a whole and, finally, that the home owner can generally have the design they always want. It is true that not every home has the same space around it, with houses in urban areas having very restricted garden and yard space. In the countryside, however, this issue does not tend to exist with more space available. So, the conservatory design can be much more extensive. By opting for a unique design, the available space can be used to its maximum, and existing common designs, such as the Victorian or the Edwardian, can be adapted to suit the requirements that the home owner has. Also, features can be added, such as bifold doors, to enhance the usability of the structure. There is always a risk when employing someone to build or refurbish a structure. Materials, plans and schedules all important aspects of the project that need to be managed properly. The risk is increased when the home owner and designer or constructor are strangers. However, bespoke designs require the home owner and the designer to work together, which in turn means that the manufacturer of the conservatory frame is spoken to. The result is that everyone is acquainted with each other, which helps to ease concerns over the quality of the materials being used and work being done. It also ensures that the home owner enjoys a greater level of control over the project. Should anything occur requiring a change, then the message is easily conveyed to the right people immediately. Craftsmanship is hugely important too, perhaps even more so when it comes to structures using hardwood frames. Too much can go wrong if a carpenter or joiner is insufficiently experienced, which only increases the significance of ascertaining the credentials of the contractor in the first place. With bespoke projects, however, because the home owner provides precise and unique specifications, a craftsman must work with the home owner step by step, which ensures less possibility of poor quality work being done. With prefabricated kits, this is not possible because set sizes and designs are delivered as standard. Therefore, the quality of the frames and the standard of craftsmanship involved cannot be assured. So, the bespoke option affords home owners with a greater level of confidence in the quality that the finished project will be of. However, clearly the biggest advantage to opting for the bespoke design is the fact that almost anything that one may wish to have included can be accommodated. This is, of course, possible within reason, with building regulations and planning regulations in existence that must be adhered to. For example, one may wish to have bay windows included in their orangery design, while one may also wish for beams to stretch overhead, a feature not usually associated with conservatories. One may also want to extend the typical Edwardian design to double the normal size, or have a more substantial roof. Even with elaborate designs for bespoke hardwood orangeries, garden rooms and conservatories prices are not out of reach. The fact that the design dreamed of can finally be secured, and the extension is completed to the highest standards, with the highest grade materials and with the highest quality craftsmanship, makes the whole project worthwhile.
