Computer Software and applications is a huge and expanding market and very innovative as well. It is characterized by rapid progression with different software companies or individual programmers coming out with intellectual and innovative products every other day. And in order to prevent such piracy or duplicity the need for patent preparation for software has become very crucial. Patent software preparation is therefore sought by innumerable IT companies to prevent fraudulence of any sort. There are various law firms who help both domestic as well as international clients with trademark and patent services. Before taking the assistance of any such services, you must make sure that your own patent is not at risk for being invalid during the infringement proceedings. There have been innumerable cases where patents that were litigated were actually found to be void. The usefulness of the patent software therefore remains as long as it is not invalidated and the law has also not changed during the course. Patent preparation is a lengthy process and can be best handled by a law firm adept in patent services. The Patent software process usually begins with a patent search to determine certain factors. The first one undoubtedly is to make sure if the theme of the invention is at all patentable. There should be a possibility of a patent. Based on such valuable search law firms decide whether to file a patent application in favor of the concerned company. The next step is to disclose the details of the invention to a patent attorney, so that proceedings can be carried along further. This disclosure helps the attorney of the law firm to prepare a preliminary report for the inventors to view. Lastly when all proceedings are complete and approved by the inventors, the application is drafted and filed. A minimum time of one year to a maximum of three years is usually taken for the complete examination to be carried out. In recent years, an increasing number of companies have requested for patent software related inventions. According to the Software Patents Institute in the United States, a large number of "true software patents" are being issued every year and patent preparation mainly covers areas pertaining to business software, operating system techniques, expert applications systems etc.
