With the release of microsoft mcse System Center Virtual Machine Manager 2008 expected any day now, the Microsoft Learning Group is in the midst of beta testing a new exam for that software solution. According to this blog post, Exam 70-403 TS: System Center Virtual Machine Manager 2008, Configuring, began beta testing on Sept. 30, with the beta phase concluding Oct. 24. Exam 70-403 counts toward a Microsoft Certified Technology Specialist: System Center Virtual Machine Manager 2008, Configuration. As of this writing, an exam objective guide wasn't available on Microsoft's Learning Web site to specify a course of training or learning. While in beta, the exam is numbered 71-403; the beta registration code is available at this Beta Exam blog post page; information on that page indicates that the exam is available worldwide except in China, India and Pakistan. Beta exams are free and those who pass the exams in beta can count the exam as a live one toward a qualifying certification. According to a recent Microsoft Learning blog post, the company is extending the pilot testing phase for its performance-based Active Directory exam. Pilot testing for 70-113: TS: Windows Server 2008 Active Directory, Configuring has been extended to Dec. 17. As a pilot exam, test takers provide feedback and get a taste for the new performance-based exams that the group will be adding to the mix of question types. So, what's the incentive this time to taking these mcse when you don't get anything in return, such as credit toward the Active Directory exam itself? Microsoft, for its part, is offering three vouchers good toward taking any Microsoft certification exam, limited to the first 3,000 pilot test takers worldwide. The catch is that you must reside in a region where the pilot exam is being delivered and you must register seven days prior to taking the exam. The Microsoft Learning Group announced on its Beta Exam blog a new exam for database developers. Exam 70-433 TS: Microsoft SQL Server 2008, Database Development, opens for registration on Sept. 19 with beta testing slated from Sept. 22 to Oct. 10. While in beta, candidates should refer to Exam 71-433. Exam 70-433 counts toward a Microsoft Certified Technology Specialist: SQL Server 2008 Database Development certification. The exam is also a requirement for those planning to step up to the higher-level Microsoft Certified IT Professional: Database Developer 2008 certification that is planned for availability early next year. According to the exam objective guide, exam 70-433 targets database development professionals who have worked with SQL Server 2008 for at least a year and build data-driven applications. While in beta, the exam is numbered 71-452; the beta registration code is available from this Beta Exam blog post; information on that page indicates that the exam is available worldwide except in China, India and Pakistan. Microsoft plans to release the exam in November. Beta exams are free and those who pass the MCITP: Server Administrator in beta can count the exam as a live one toward a qualifying certification.
