The first ceiling fans were created in the late 1870s in the United States and were powered by a stream of running water. Today, technology has come a long way and we now experience the benefits of a ceiling fan that is powered by a silent motor. Though ceiling fans do not change the temperature of the air, the movement of the air creates a cool sensation on a hot day. Each fan comes with an array of ceiling fan parts that you may find yourself needing to replace one day. Becoming familiar with your ceiling fan parts may save you time and money in the future when necessary repairs are needed to be made. Each ceiling fan today come with blades that are most commonly make of wood, metal or plastic. These ceiling fan parts are easy to replace because they usually simply attach with a few screws. You may also need to replace ceiling fan parts called blade brackets which hold the blades in place, and like the blades themselves, the brackets are easily replaced as well. Ceiling fan parts called flywheels may need to be replaced when the ceiling fan starts aging, especially if your family uses it a lot. Flywheels are connected to the blade brackets and allow the fan to actually move because they are attached to the motor. Older flywheels may become brittle and break, so these ceiling fan parts mat be the cause of your malfunctioning fan. The ceiling fan parts that attach the actual fan to the ceiling may become loose over time and cause wobbling to occur. Fortunately, these ceiling fan parts are easily fixed with a little bit of tightening. Some fans are attached with ceiling fan parts called down rods which are mainly used in homes with very high ceilings. If the down rod becomes damaged, it can mean your ceiling fan may not properly be attached to the ceiling and will need to be replaced. Fortunately, down rods are ceiling fan parts that come in a variety of colors and sizes that you are sure to find a new one that works out well. Ceiling fans are commonly used in homes, offices, or any commercial property and can effectively save lots of money on energy costs. Industrial ceiling fans are used to cool workers in warehouses and are powered by high speed motors and use only three blades. A high speed motor can become strained if too many blades are attached to it. Another great place to put a ceiling fan is in your outdoor living space which will cool you off in the summer without using much energy. Ceiling fan parts are simple to come by and most can easily be replaced by anyone who is charged with the task. You should always get brand specific parts if they are available because they will run the best with your ceiling fan. Make sure you follow all safety procedures and consult an electrician if you ever have questions when replacing parts on your ceiling fan.
