A frequent notion with bath lighting is that bath lighting one of the least important aspects of the bathroom. Bath lighting is not only thought to be of little importance but also that bath lighting doesn't require as much attention as other rooms in the house due to the bathroom's smaller size. The reality is quite the opposite of these two ideas. Bath lighting is indeed important to consider and may be one of the more crucial factors to consider in a remodel. One often overlooked reality about bath lighting is that the bathroom is often one of the only rooms in the house to either have very little natural light or sometimes no natural light at all. Natural bath lighting can come from skylights or windows but due to privacy considerations whatever windows are present are usually quite small and it is not uncommon for a bathroom to be without any windows whatsoever. This void in bath lighting needs to be filled through layered lighting with different types of fixtures in the bathroom serve different purposes. Bath lighting is important for a few reasons and one big one is for safety. The bathroom can be damp and moist even outside of the bathtub or shower. Combined with the fact that bathroom floors are usually tiled or use another potentially slippery material, this leads to a need to see where you are stepping through quality bath lighting. Many bathrooms use a single fluorescent light source to provide illumination for the entire bathroom. While this form of bath lighting can take care of the safety aspect by lighting the room with a central, bright light, it does not offer much beyond that. For many people, the bathroom is used as an intimate, relaxing sanctuary that offers a place to unwind. A soothing soak in the tub can be enhanced with soft, warm lighting that is not offered by a single fixture on the ceiling but can be achieved through ambient bath lighting. The placement of different fixtures and dimmer switches can aid in setting the appropriate mood for the bathroom. The bathroom is an integral part of most people's morning ritual as well. Proper bath lighting requires successful vanity lighting that will fully illuminate your face while applying makeup, shaving or washing your face at the sink. This form of task bath lighting can best be achieved through lighting fixtures that either flank the mirror or are directly above it. Lights on both sides of the mirror at the proper height will cast little to no shadows while fully illuminating your face in an adequate manner. Bath lighting can be achieved through a combination of task, ambient, accent and even decorative lighting. Fixtures come in a variety of styles and there are many combinations of bath lighting that will help complete your bathroom's ambiance. Your local home improvement store can provide assistance in determining the best way to maximize the bath lighting in your home. Additionally, you can find further help online through the store's website.
