If you have ever approached someone's home in the evening and a light came on, then you know what a motion sensor light can do. Basically, it is designed to detect some kind of motion at a certain distance and turn on a light for a specified period of time. This is a very helpful product when you want to improve the security and safety of your home. A motion sensor light can be found in a variety of colors, styles and types. You may find a motion sensor light that has a limited range, designed for a front door approach, or you may find one with a very long range that is designed for a driveway or walkway. As you look at your house and yard, you can determine the types of motion sensor lights that you will need to provide both security and safety. The last thing you want is for a family member to trip on the stairs while trying to get to the front door. Using a motion sensor light near that door will ensure that a light will turn on as each person approaches, so that you can be assured of their safety. These systems use the technology of the motion sensor to trigger a camera that records the movement and even the sound. The cameras are very clear and do a good job of recording. You can get about 45 days of recordings because they are only activated when the motion sensor detects movement. You can either use a DVR to watch what was recorded or an SD card that works with your computer. In addition to helping with both safety and security, you can also use motion sensor technology to help you save energy. This is with an occupancy or vacancy motion sensor. These handy little units connect to your existing lights in any room of the house, and the motion sensor will turn off the lights in that room when no activity has been detected for at least ten minutes. This type of motion sensor can come in very handy if your family is notorious for leaving lights on. You won't have to walk through the house before you go to bed to check on the lights anymore because your motion sensor will simply turn them all off for you. These occupancy motion sensor units often come with a programmable timer, so that you can set them for a certain time if you want to. The motion sensor in some units can also turn the lights on when it detects movement. This is very handy when you have your arms full and can't quite reach the light switch. As you can see, there are many ways that you can use a motion sensor in your home or business. You can use them to help provide safety, security, or even to save energy.
