If you and your spouse fight about whether you can read at night because the light is so bright and your spouse simply can't sleep, then you are the perfect candidate for using swing arm lamps. You will never need to use the bright overhead lamp or a floor lamp that sheds it light over the whole bed. By using swing arm lamps you will be able to put just the right amount of light directly over your book and your spouse won't even be bothered by it. You have many options as to size and style, so you should be able to match your bedroom d?cor and really get a great, modern look with swing arm lamps. Whether you prefer large lamps or small ones, pleated shades or smooth shades, you can find them in swing arm lamps. Some people love to add a dash of color or style with a deep red shade or a rectangular shaped shade. The hardware also comes in different colors, you may like brass, nickel, copper, or even aged silver. Perhaps you would rather go for straight black or white. Whether you prefer your swing arm lamps to stand out and make a statement or to blend into the overall room, you will be able to make that happen. If you don't know much about how swing arm lamps work, they are relatively simple. The base of the lamp attaches to the wall and a jointed arm swings out from that base, to which the actual lamp and shade are attached. This allows you extreme versatility in placement of the light because you can extend it to the full length of the arms or just a bit away from the wall, depending on what your preferences are. Installation of swing arm lamps can be done two different ways; directly or by using a plug. You can have an electrician wire them directly into the existing house electrical system, which hides the cord and allows the swing arm lamps to come straight out of the wall. If you don't want to hire an electrician or you think you may move the fixture eventually, you can actually do it yourself with the existing hardware and simply plug the cord into an existing outlet. With this method, the cord will hang down from the light, but you can get a cord cover if it bothers you. Swing arm lamps are generally quite affordable and easy to find at your local home improvement center or lighting store. You may want to check online to see if there are reviews available for the fixtures you are considering so you will know if people have been pleased with the product. Remember, if your reading in bed has become a sore spot with your spouse, save your marriage by installing swing arm lamps in the bedroom.
