In recent years more and more people have been travelling by car, it may have something to do with the climate or maybe the Top Gear team have won over the nation. There are many ways that people can travel by car and there are also many different places that you can visit by road. The exhilaration of travelling by road has only recently revealed itself to me. I have previously only ever travelled by plane and was not really excited about the prospect of spending a holiday in a car. But when my girlfriend asked me to take her on a road trip there was very little I could say. I had to agree to her plans and we geared up for a week driving around France. The day came to depart and it was surprisingly anticlimactic. The car was packed and we had all the usual holiday paraphernalia. We got in the car and pulled out of the drive. I looked at my girlfriend, resenting the fact that she had dragged me on a driving holiday. Looking back I was associating car holidays with the dreadful caravan holidays I had when I was younger; you know the ones, wet, rainy and cold. In the end as soon as we crossed the channel my world lit up, literally, the car flooded with light and we rolled the windows down. As the air rushed in and the rolling French countryside opened up, I change my mind. Now I can’t wait for the next adventure and would even consider renting a car when abroad. I have been to France before but I have never experience the country in the same way that I did when we were driving. The ease with which we moved on when we decided that we didn’t enjoy the town or the city, was remarkable. We found little villages that we would never have been able to visit if we had been on a normal holiday. I would recommend a driving holiday to anyone that I meet. The food that we sampled in the small towns around the country was remarkable. The food was prepared by true French culinary masters. I would also like to mention the car, which was fondly nicknamed Percy on the trip, he did his duty well and we had absolutely no problems with him. It just goes to show that any car can make it, especially if it is a second hand Audi A4 like Percy. He is truly remarkable machine. To start your used car adventure click here.
