CNTEX Exclusive: China Top 500 Textile & Apparel Companies with Competitiveness Program was launched in 15th July this year. The list confirmed that printing and dyeing companies have one of the largest revenues - 37 out of 500 companies on the list belong to this sector. Those top 37 companies represent the advanced productivity, technology and innovation capacity of the printing and dyeing industry in China. They are the backbone of this industry. From January to May, China??s printing & dyeing production rose 7.27 percent from a year earlier to 18.777 billion metres, but that was 1.94 percentage points less than the growth rate during the same five-month period last year. China??s printing & dyeing exports volume rose 12.65 percent from a year earlier to 4.815 billion metres, and that was 13 percentage points higher than the last year; Exports value rose 22.04 percent from a year earlier to 4.525 billion USD, and that was 14.87 percentage points higher than the last year. The figure shows our export expanded. However, the merchandise export indexes are calculated using dollar. And the yuan has risen 19 percent since China dropped the peg to the greenback in July 2005. So the real growth rate was only 12.06%. Zhejiang, Jiangsu, Shandong, Guangdong and Fujian provinces, well-known assembling bases of dyeing and printing industry, owns 90.88% of China??s dyeing and printing enterprises. Particularly in some towns, there are more than 40 dyeing and printing factories in 4 sq.km.Through the first half of 2008, the rising prices of raw materials such as gas and coal are squeezing the profit margin in the printing and dyeing manufacturing sector. China's printing and dyeing manufacturing contracted as the worst financial crisis since the Great Depression eroded export demand. ??Dyeing and printing of textile being a traditional industry of China and due to the heavy demand in the country has a very important role. However, most of dissolvent of traditional printing contain deleterious substances that pollute the environment badly. Preparation and overcome technical design deficiencies of dyeing and printing was our main tasks.?? Chen Zhihua has given TA Weekly answers to this question.First of all, China's printing and dyeing industry is expected to enter a major stage of restructuring. To some extent, restructuring is the inevitable next stage to enhance their competitiveness. The painful path, however, could force many Chinese makers to focus on higher-end production and to upgrade technologies. The environmental problems faced by Zhejiang, Jiangsu, Shandong, Guangdong and Fujian provinces are so extensive that they must be treated as a top priority. Of particular concern to them is those small dyeing plants who can not meet the waste discharge standards. At present, provincial governments have issued policies of their own to encourage investment for pollution control. But those small plants have not developed enough pollution control technologies and have less rigorous enforcement of environmental standards. Fortunately, there are many low-cost improvements possible at every stage in the production life cycle. The industry has many resources for cleaner production. China Dyeing and Printing Association is active in environmental issues and training. Many case studies and technical guides are available. Primary solutions include process measurement and control, water recycling, chemical substitution and reduction, energy efficiency, and new product development using waste mater.Next, printing and dyeing enterprises need increase their efforts to meet the specific needs of the clients towards value-added production, notably through the creation. The concept of adding value suggests that they use their entrepreneurial capabilities to create products from their own raw materials. They then reap the benefits and profits currently being realized by others. Adding value and developing value-added products require them to look at their existing products and resources through different eyes. It means scanning the marketplace for unique needs and wants of customers. As they identify what is valuable in the marketplace, they can develop new and unique products which are aligned with these needs and create new markets.Moreover, China??s domestic demand still has much potential while the export sector has fallen victim to the global credit crisis and weaker foreign demand. The basics of China??s economy are sound and there is enormous room for enhancing domestic demand.
