With the advanced surgical techniques that we employ in our 24 Hour Recovery processes, a patient will look FANTASTIC the day of surgery! Since they go home just looking and feeling like they are engorged with milk (if you haven't had that experience...the breasts look like they are in a push up bra but you are not wearing anything), they are not Black and Blue with bandages and drains, they could wear a low-cut shirt the day of surgery and just look like they have a push up bra on. So, that means that they could also transition into being very comfortable in a swimsuit really fast! They will look good, BUT, they are still healing. Moving immediately is essential to feeling good and reducing CC rates, so a patient feels good really fast. But the entire first year is full of healing milestones. The one that surprises everyone, especially this time of year is the NO STILL WATER for SIX WEEKS restriction. We recommend that patients stay out of any type of still water - bathtubs, swimming pools, lakes, oceans and especially jacuzzi's for six weeks following their surgery to help reduce the risk of infection. No matter how much chlorine a pool or jacuzzi may have in it, it also still has an inordinate amount of bacteria. I think lakes and oceans speak for themselves. So I know that a lot of you are trying to get your breast implants now so that you can enjoy them this summer and in my opinion, there is still time! You may just have to adjust how you handle certain out-door activities for a little while. There is no rule against sitting beside the pool and looking amazing! Or walking along the edge of the surf on your favorite beach, or riding around in a boat - these are all great opportunities to really enjoy your new look! But if you have the cruise of a life time planned and you are really looking forward to snorkeling or your little one really needs you in the water during those first few, very important swimming lessons, please, either allow enough time to have your surgery six weeks before those events happen, or wait until after -- an infected implant is a bad deal and with these simple planning tips, easier to avoid!
