SEO is a technique about which we all have few Myths. It can be related to anything such as Results, Keywords, Search Engines, Meta Tags and others. This is because subject is vast and knowledge is limited. I am going to mention down few common myths which we all have faced or may be facing.

SEO Provides Overnight Results

This is the first common myth about SEO but I can assure you that no-one, and I really mean no-one, can guarantee you SEO results in 24 hours. It’s marketing stunt followed by the people to promote their services. A new site struggles for the weeks to become visible in list of search engine rankings and this is not a joke it’s a fact. And to reach anywhere on the first page of search results it may take months with the continuous efforts of Organic SEO. Google use its own ways to drag your site to the top depend on the material you provide on your website. It was mine myth till last year which was completely nonsense so I am speaking from my experience. In short if you are using any SEO services don’t expect overnight results because it takes time to grow.

Placement in Search Engines is Guaranteed

The same black hat SEO guys who promised you overnight results may have promised you 100% results which means placement in search engines top pages. It all depends on the competition and quality of your site, robots of Google check each of the sites carefully, concentrate on the provided content, check the uniqueness of content and designs and then decide any results of ranking for your site. There is no guarantee of results while using SEO. List of keywords you using will also alter the results because any randomly used key phrase cannot take drag your website to the top of search engines.

Meta Tags are Crucial for the Site

After a decade when new software hitting the markets still few of the SEO guys believe that tags are important for search engines results. Although it is being demonstrated by search engines like Google and Yahoo that they simply go through the main content available on the web page and ignore the Meta tags. (Even sometimes I still feel to believe on this)

Submitting to More Search Engines

Did your SEO guy is promising you the submission in more than 2000 search engines? Site submission to all the available search engines is bread and butter for the average SEO work but to become the major player in important search engines such as Google, Yahoo, MSN is the biggest achievement. These 3 big sites will bring around 99% of the traffic to your website.

More Links Means Good Links

Anyone who has little or no knowledge of SEO also understands that links are crucial part to increase the ranking in search engines. Search engines are updated now and they concentrate on the quality instead of the quantity. It is not necessary that all the links you get are relevant for you. Here relevant means links which are contributing something to the search engines, which are related to your portal. People still buy links and clicks for site which is useless now. This is the biggest myth I have heard.
