If Walt Disney was alive he would have loved to see the way things have shaped out for the Disney World Resort. It also known as the Walt Disney World and Disneyland and other such. It opened to public in October 1971 and since then has added several feathers in its cap. It is located in near the city of Orlando in Florida in the U.S.A. The resort is built in an area of 30,080 acres. It is now the largest and the world’s most visited recreational place. Back in 1971 when the resort opened to public, it had just one theme park- the magic Kingdom. It now houses several theme parks. There are also golf courses, water parks and several other recreational activities. The theme parks include, Magic kingdom, Epcot, Disney’s Hollywood studios, Disney’s Animal Kingdom. There are also water parks like the Typhoon Lagoon and the Blizzard Beach. There are also other attractions like the Downtown Disney, Disney’s wedding pavilion, ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex and the Walt Disney World Speedway. The property also includes two health spas. Disney world Resort was based on the themes of dreams by Walt Disney, the creator of Disney. He wanted the resort to be visited and not just for a day but a recreational resort, like a vacation spot. Walt Disney wanted to create a place which would keep people away from reality. He wanted to create a city, which would be an independent entity. For this he settled upon the site near Orlando in Florida. It had good roads, an air base which later turned into an international airport and other amenities, making it perfect for a resort and a city. But Walt Disney died in December 1966, leaving plans for the Disney World Resort still unrealized. With the land acquisition deals all sorted out, what was left was just the building of the parks and other amenities. His brother Roy Disney decided to take the project up. It was completed by October 1971. Roy dedicated the Disney World Resort to Walt Disney the man who conceptualized the whole idea. But he also passed away only 3 months after the opening of the resort. But the resort has since then grown to be a very frequently visited spot by American families. It has a magical feeling to itself, like a wonderland. It seems like it has been created for this; to remove people from reality and take them to another happy world. Children of course love the place for all its fairy tale exuberance. The adults also have their own share of fun. As mentioned earlier there are golf courses, including miniature golf complexes. There are health spas too and a worldwide sports complex. There are catch and release fishing excursions too. Adults can also rent watercrafts, for the bay lake, bikes can be hired; there are even fire work cruises, which are enjoyed by everyone. The resort is located just beyond the city of Orlando in Florida. It is very accessible and even has a airport nearby.
