The fragrant candle has been around for many years, since the dawn of civilization as well as the process of aromatherapy. Soy wax has only been around since the early 1990's and soy candles came to be right after that. During the following years, aromatherapy soy candles came into being. Aromatherapy soy candles - exactly what are they? Aromatherapy, simply put, is therapy (or treatment) using aroma or fragrance. In practice, aromatherapy entails the use of volatile plant oils, known as essential oils to produce a therapeutic fragrance that is then inhaled and affects the body and mind in specific ways. Aromatherapy soy candles are soy candles infused with essential oils. Usually, an aromatherapy soy candle is contained in a jar since pillar candles cannot be made with pure soy wax. That jar candle is then lit, and the essential oils are heated and diffused into the air. The aromas from those essential oils are inhaled and that?s when the effects takeplace. Aromatherapy soy candles - are they effective? Again, aromatherapy has been used by people all over the world since the dawn of civilization. It would be hard to argue against the effectiveness of the practice even if its effects were completely psychosomatic. In comparison, western medicine has only just begun to realize the effectiveness or aromatherapy. Fragrances that are naturally derived from certain plants, flowers and woods are used in aromatherapy. A perfume scented candle might be considered therapeutic in some ways, but the perfume used is artificially created to only mimic the smells that are naturally created by essential oils. The body knows the difference and is thought to react much more positively to natural, essential oil fragrances. When you light a standard scented candle, you almost immediately begin to smell the aroma being released by the fragrance or perfume that is infused with the candle wax. If you are used to the strong, pungent fragrances associated with modern day scented candles, it may take you a while to smell the aroma being released by an aromatherapy soy candle. There are definite differences in simply smelling a scent and aromatherapy. Even a perfume scent can be therapeutic. Any scent can trigger memory receptors and thus affect your mood. Essential oils can do this as well, but they work on a much deeper level. The essence of the essential oil is more important than the scent. It is thought by many that the chemical compounds contained in essential oils have a quantifiable and measurable effect on the physical body. When you light an aromatherapy soy candle, the soy wax heats the essential oils. Soy wax is ideal for use in candle aromatherapy since soy wax burns cooler, not to mention cleaner. Because the wax is cooler, the oils are dispersed more evenly into the air. They are also not heated up to the point whereas the heat causes damage to the essentialoils as can happen with paraffin. It is recommended that you use your aromatherapy soy candle in a quiet place for a minimum of a half hour. This give the essential oils time to pass through the air as you inhale the aroma and your body and mind are healed. soy candles
