In years gone by, it was all about moisturizers and suntan lotions, but today the average person is more concerned about anti wrinkle skin care. Instead of people rushing out to buy suntan lotions, they're rushing out to buy sunscreen lotion, and just as well really, considering the sun plays a huge role when it comes to premature aging. The biggest concern with sunscreens is that many of them contain a vast amount of chemicals which ironically, can actually contribute to premature aging since the damage the skin. In fact, Padimate-O, which is frequently used in sunscreens, and is sometimes referred to as octyl dimethyl, has the ability to form nitrosamines which are already known to be carcinogenic. Many researchers now believe that this chemical could covert energy from the sun into free radicals, thus increasing the risk of skin cancer, rather than help to avoid it. What has this got to do with anti wrinkle skin care? Some of the better anti aging creams and serums will already include UV protection, so if you're using such a cream, you'd be better off staying away from traditional sunscreen lotions, and especially those containing Padimate-O. As you will have noticed in the above paragraph, I said some of the "better" skin care products contain UV protection, so you might be wondering how on earth exactly, are you meant to distinguish between a good product and a bad product. In truth, it's amazingly easy - simply avoid all skin care products that contain chemicals, and to be on the safe side, also avoid natural skin care products if fragrance has been added. This may seem a bit overly precautions, but at the end of the day, it's not only your appearance which is at stake, but it's also your health. In my opinion, if everyone started research the numerous different chemicals used in the cosmetics industry, the industry would collapse. Chemical usage within the industry has reached alarming proportions, and yet skin care manufacturers continue adding more and more of these dangerous contaminants. How do they get away with it? Surely if a chemical is known to be a health risk, the authorities would forbid manufacturers from adding it into creams and lotions which people put on their skin day in and day out? If, when you're finished reading this article, you visit the Food and Drug Administration website, all will be revealed - the FDA does NOT regulate cosmetic ingredients. In plain and simple English, this means we just have to trust the manufacturers. I don't know about you, but I certainly doubt the big brand name companies care more about my health and safety than they do about keeping their shareholders happy. Apart from most of the name brand products being dangerous, and horribly overpriced, many are totally ineffective as well. This is why they need to rely on enhancing all their so-called "before and after" images they throw at us via clever advertizing. If you're skeptical just do Google searches for banned skin care commercials in the UK. These are small names trying to generate some profit - they are major players who have the expertise and the resources to create anti wrinkle skin care products which are both safe and effective. Of course it's not only the big name brands that are guilty, which is why I mentioned earlier that you need to stick with all-natural skin care products. Why take a chance with chemical laden creams and lotions, when instead you could be using ones containing ingredients that are safe enough to eat, and enormously more effective. As an example, why use petroleum based mineral oil on your skin to act as a moisturizer, when instead you could use something like jojoba oil? Unfortunately however, you're not likely to see these natural ingredients in many name brand products, and if you do, they'll more than likely be present in such small concentrations; they'd be pretty much ineffective anyway.
