Ansul is a brand name for fire suppression equipment. It includes everything from fire extinguishers, to full fire suppression systems. A fire requires three things in order to burn, fuel, oxygen and heat. An Ansul system applies an agent that either displaces the oxygen or cools the burning fuel to smother fires effectively. This smothering agent usually contains carbon dioxide. Most importantly, an Ansul system saves lives and property from fire. The most complete Ansul systems contain fire and heat detectors, along with an alarm system. It notifies inhabitants to evacuate the area before injury can occur. It also has an automatic system that releases the right chemicals to contain and suppress the fire before it can cause widespread damage to the property. The simplest and most common type of Ansul is the portable fire extinguisher. These can be used in homes or small business that don’t have highly combustible and flammable materials. For larger companies and business, there are the large piped systems that dispense up to 3,000 pounds of dry chemical. The type F class Ansul system is recommended for commercial kitchens. These systems direct the chemicals to the stoves, ovens, and fryers. Fusible links melt during a fire, which causes the piping system to carry the agent to nozzles located above the cooking appliances. Ansul systems are also mounted on fire trucks to be used by firefighters. It is extremely important to have a good fire suppression system like Ansul. They save lives, property, and valuable possessions if a fire is ever started.
