Nobody in their right mind wants to have aging sagging skin, but unfortunately Mother Nature doesn't really give us a say in the matter. As we age, our bodies go through a tremendous amount of changes, both internally and externally. Since this article relates to the appearance of skin, we'll focus on the external signs of aging for the time being. These signs would include fine lines and wrinkles, crows' feet, eye bags, and of course sagging skin. The primary reason we see all these signs as we grow older, is simply because our bodies begin producing less and less collagen and elastin, and as a result, the skin loses much of its elasticity and firmness. Now, as we all know, there are several options available to us if we're simply not willing to stand by and watch as the passing years play havoc with our appearance. To begin with, one can go for cosmetic surgery in order to eliminate sagging skin. These types of procedures can deliver almost unbelieving good results, but of course they can also leave one disfigured for life should something go wrong. As with all types of surgery, there are several risks involved besides disfigurement. Also, many people who have opted for this type solution in order to firm up their facial skin have found they have difficulty smiling naturally after the procedure. This "tightness" can last several years, until such time the skin loses an adequate amount of elasticity. Other popular and also less intrusive options would include the likes of laser treatments, chemical peels, and Botox injections. Laser treatments can significantly reduce aging sagging skin, but once again, it does carry certain risks, although admittedly, it is less risky than surgery. The biggest downside to laser treatment is the prohibitive cost. Depending on the severity of one's problem, several treatment sessions may be required, and in some cases this can cost hundreds of thousands of dollars. Laser treatment is often advertized as being a permanent solution, but in truth it is not permanent at all. The results may still be apparent several years later, but with each passing day, the skin continues to age, and as it does so, it begins to sag once again. Chemical peels, and particularly deep peels, are also marketed as being a permanent solution, but of course they aren't. The results of a deep peel can on the other hand be longer lasting than the results of surgery and/or laser treatments. Even so, chemical peels cannot prevent one's skin from aging. As with the other procedures already discussed, a deep peel is an expensive procedure, and it carries some very real risks indeed. Patients also have to commit themselves to a lifetime of sunscreen use. Botox injections have been the order of the day in Hollywood for decades already, and they are just as popular nowadays. In fact, Botox has become increasingly more popular in the general population as well, since the treatment is more affordable these days. Even so, the average person can expect to pay somewhere in the region of $1,000 per session, and considering the results only last for about six months, you could find Botox ends up being the most costly of all choices. Once you've received your first lot of injections, and you see your aging sagging skin vanish before your eyes, you'll almost certainly be hooked. Human growth hormone treatment has also gained a fair share of popularity. Unfortunately however, there are a few stumbling blocks. First and foremost is the fact that injectable growth hormone is incredibly expensive, and it can only be administered by a qualified healthcare professional. The most frightening aspect of using human growth hormone to fight aging is that there have only been very few studies done, and as such, nobody can say for sure what the long term effects will be. In a nutshell, the safest and also the longest lasting approach to aging skin would be to use high quality all-natural skin care products. Chemical based products should be avoided at all costs since many of the chemicals being used are not yet fully understood. Several chemicals which were once allowed have been banned in recent years, and there's no doubt more will be banned as we get to better understand their long term effects.
