So often when you think of safaris you think of a South African Safari. While those often come to mind you can also take a safari in Botswana, Egypt, Kenya, Tanzania and Zimbabwe. Botswana is mostly sand and desert combined with the Okavango Delta that fans out to include a maze of islands, lagoons, and waterways. National Parks and Game Reserves make up seventeen percent of the area. The preserves are huge from 20,000 square miles with the Central Kalahari, Chobe National Park with 4,517 square miles to many smaller ones. Some of these preserves’ are home to great herds of elephants and buffalos. A safari in Savuti would allow you to see prides of lions with 20 members, 3,000 buffalo roaming together, zebras and wildebeest roam in the thousands. Have you ever thought of a safari in Egypt? Home to the worlds oldest civilization, the land is alive with beauty and life. From cruises down the Nile to the sites of the Great Pyramids and sphinx, safaris and tours are available to show this magnificent old country. Kenya is a land of diversity with snow-capped mountains, glaciers, arid deserts, dry savannahs, dense forest, and lush lakes. Mount Kenya rises 5,199 m above sea level; the deserts and plains are at sea level. In the Great Rift Valley, the floor is covered in extinct volcanoes and lakes. Kenya has almost a perfect climate, never too hot or too cold. Animals roam the 37 National Parks and Reserves in all their varieties. Not all safaris are South African Safari’s, although amazing experiences the world is big and diverse with plenty of area to explore.
