Conscious Connections In between a rock and a hard place is at best what comes to mind when contemplating and discussing the current state of affairs. I visualize the sight of the Israeli’s running toward bomb shelters when the overhead siren sounds of an approaching rocket attack aimed at destroying them as well as the state of Israel as a whole. That is unthinkable, to live under such conditions in today’s world. Therefore it becomes unimaginable that covert military strikes in the dead of night or in the light of day. Israeli missiles or tanks could be reigning down death, destruction, and sheer hatred for a the very people they now occupy. Troubling consequences to plague such an approach as it breeds more hatred. Which fueled by more violence as a consequence by radical extremism. On both sides there is well noted extremism. Ultimately, the power of the Israeli military one of most highly skilled and trained in the world, compared to the uprising threat of radical extremism present in Palestinian Territories. There are few conversations that become so tenacious, emotional, and controversial in topic, that I have ever had to endure in life. I have Jewish family members, the Lehman’s, and a host of Jewish friends including my neighbors the Penski’s. We share a connection through community, faith and history. A host of my elementary school teachers were Jewish, like most students, who attended public school in Philadelphia. One of my favorite and more memorable middle school teachers, Ms. Wexler, was also Jewish as most teachers in my life were Jewish. I know they are good people. I previously worked for a Jewish owned company, and counted them as friends. I partied with them and celebrated Hanukkah as well. I also have Palestinian and Arab friends as well. Their very attractive and smart people as well. I love the food and the culture. The older Arabs are very wise, always lending me advice. I have a spiritual connection I feel when I smell the scents of fragrant incense, eat the food that I love, or smoke the hookah, hearing the music that makes me smile and dance. Its all very exciting as these are lively people with a very rich history. I have a lot respect for this culture. I’m often mistaken for being Arab in most 7-11’s when stopping in to make a small purchase while on the go or at the airport. I never mind.Needless to say I am no Anti-Semite. I have love and respect for all people. In all their many forms, they that they may arrive on this planet as. Its a divine action to be born. We have no control over who we are, at birth. We do however have control over who we become in life. I was born in the same relatively local area of Pennsylvania, where Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin “Bibi” Netanayu, was Principal at Cheltenham High school in Cheltenham, Pa. A small suburban neighborhood outside of Philadelphia, which consists of a large and affluent African American and Jewish community. My best friend, a Muslim no less, attended the same school while Netanayu was there. Shortly before he left to take office in Israel. His political actions actions and decisions now shock me, as I reflect on the neighborhood he resided in and the school in which he administered. How could such a person come from a place not far from my home and become that kind of person? Life is one a surprise after another right? Who would have thought a person living in a considerably large majority of educated, liberal and racially diverse communities of the United States could become, a Neo-Conservative hardliner in International politics in Israel. I was astonished. Let down at most, as he wasn’t truly representing the views of America where I was from, yet he represented the worst of Israeli politics. Maybe “Bibi” doesn’t consider himself American any longer, or share the same values any longer. I can not speak for him. To me he seemed like he was getting it both ways. Here in America he was the Jewish role model, loving and teaching. In Israel he unleashed Hell on the Palestinians, not willing to listen or negotiate peace. I was a fan of his, as I thought he would bring a similar vision of America where he prospered to Israel. Instead he went in the opposite direction full throttle. Then I thought most people don’t just change so rapidly. Something was always there. So I researched further and uncovered: You can continue this article and others at www.rtruth.blog.com or follow the link below: http://rtruth.blog.com/2011/09/13/mideastconflict%E2%80%A8/">Related Articles -
