Subsequently, the classic film “Titanic” landed second as the movie with the highest sales. It held the number one post for twelve years before the highest earning film broke its record in 2009. Released in 1997, “Titanic” was warmly received worldwide, raking in a total of $1,843,201,268 in sales. As critics put it, it is one of the best retelling of a story based on true events in the history of filmmaking. “Titanic” provided viewers worldwide a skillful narration of how the greatest ship ever built sank. Until now, it still outstands any free movies online. Lastly, one of the most searched free movies online and the one which toppled “Titanic” is James Cameron’s “Avatar”. The film is set in the mid-22nd century and opens where humans mine a precious mineral in a habitable moon called Pandora. The conflict began when humans wanted to expand their mining exploits, threatening the existence of an indigenous tribe called Na-vi. “Avatar” was the first film to break the $2 billion sales mark. It grossed $2,782,275,172 in ticket sales worldwide, surpassing “Titanic”’s 12-year record of $1.8 billion.
