According to a press release on the Colorado Police Department’s website, he was transported by helicopter to the facility following a call to authorities after Moore sought aid at the caller’s door. The cause of death was multiple gunshot wounds, the press released said. Rodrigo Rubio, a 23 year-old man of Phoenix, Arizona, and Michael Berkowitz, a 62-year-old man of Colorado Springs, were arrested in the following weeks in connection with the murder. Rubio was charged with first degree murder and second degree kidnapping while Berkowitz faces accessory to first degree murder and second degree kidnapping charges. According to the police, Moore himself was arrested in 2007 after an altercation near a 7-11 convenience store in which police accused the former soldier of shooting another man in the face and chest with a pistol shortly after being confronted by a group of men.
