Potash fertilizer is basically those which are made up of salts where Potassium in water soluble form is there. In rare cases only they are mixed with organic materials like plant remains and before the industrial era, this was only the major source of potassium. Today it is produced where the total amount of production even crosses 30 million tonnes a year. Potash fertilizer thus becomes the single and largest source for the use of potassium. Potash fertilizer actually plays a very important role in many aspects. One of the major amongst them is for plant growth in the structure of NPK. Here it is mixed with Nitrogen and Potassium. The demand for animal feed and food has been on the rise ever since we entered the last quarter of the last century. Potash fertilizer thus played a major role where its enhanced use was mainly contributed by USA. Then came the role of Latin America and Asia. Since they were growing economies, the demand for Potash fertilizer was even increased. Thus over the years we can see that it has actually been on the rising curve but after 2008 when the accelerated curve started showing retardation. The major reason for the same is the retardation in the world economic growth during that period. The largest consumers of Potash fertilizer in the world are Brazil, India, China and the United States. And again the demand of the same has started rising up.
