A well-known movie survey and review website conducted an online poll to 3,000 movie fans last year. They asked children to choose their favorite animated film and, if possible, give a simple and short explanation why they love it. It comes to no surprise when Shrek topped the list. The first installment of Shrek released is a 200 American animated fantasy-comedy film which starred an intimidating but kind-hearted ogre. It was directed by Andrew Adamson and Vicky Jenson and featured the voices of Mike Myers as Shrek; Eddie Murphy as Shrek’s best bud Donkey; Cameron Diaz as the beautiful and aggressive Princess Fiona (who happens to be Shrek’s love interest); and John Lithgow as the villain Lord Farquaad. The spokesperson of the movie and review website which carried out the said online poll found out that Shrek is not only loved by those who are aged five, but the film is also enjoyed by those who are well into their 50s. Even though Shrek is an ogre who tries to be scary and really mean to people, he ends up making true friends as he saves Fairy Tale Land from the evil Lord Farquaad. The movie deals with the idea that one should not despise a person based on his physical appearance because what’s more important is his/her inner beauty.
